Last week I spent some time in Novosibirsk with my Group Analytic colleagues Valentina Okonova and Olga Pryakhina. This was my first visit to Siberia and I was happy to be asked by them to do some teaching on the first bloc of their newly established Advanced Course in Group Analysis, and to give a Study Day on Group Analysis applied to Organisations. I thoroughly enjoyed the week I spent with them; the temperatures were truly wintry I thought: -25 C. the second day I was there, but it was still Autumn I was told; “….just wait until winter arrives, the it’s really cold -35 or even -40C.!”. I was there when the season’s first snows arrived, so we were able to spend a little time doing some telemark, or cross country skiing. I’ve never worn skis before, so was happy to stay on my feet… most of the time. Most, if not all of the Advanced Course students attended the Study Day joining a membership of Psychologists, Organisational Consultants and business men and women. I was very impressed to learn that some had come from other towns hundreds of Kilometres from Novosibirsk, but my greatest admiration was for the students from Elista (Kalmykia) who had travelled for three days on trains to get there. I was really impressed by the involvement and attention given to the study day and to the lectures to the Advanced Course, there was lots of questions and answers in lively, open and engaged discussions. For me it was great fun, in which others seemed to share. I gather the feedback has been quite positive, so it was all very worth-while. Congratulations to Valya and Olga; this is a brilliant beginning for the developing Novosibirsk Institute. Harry Wright1st December 2015 |
